Critically Write update
The subsidised appraisal service, Critically Write, is currently closed to new manuscripts. If you wish to have your work appraised by a professional there are a number of options currently available to you. You can submit your work to the Literature Network under the same criteria as Critically Write, but you will have to pay the full cost of appraisal. This is £150 for an Agents Submission appraisal, £160 for a short to medium sized submission, £210 for a full length manuscript (plus £3 per 1,000 words over 90,000 if novel). Alternatively, you can investigate other appraisal services. We particularly recommend The Literary Consultancy and The Poetry Society (poetry submissions only) but there are many services available around the country you could research. All of these will require you to pay for the service. You may be able to gain some funding to support the cost of the service. You could try the Arts Council’s Grants for the Arts scheme. More details are available at www.artscouncil.org.uk. The Literature Network may offer free or subsidised appraisals in the future, so please do keep checking our website for further information, or you can register your interest by emailing naomiw@charnwood-arts.org.uk and we will contact you if there are any updates.
