Young Cultural Creators
Between November 2008 and January 2009 a select group of pupils from Springboard Pupil Referral Unit took part in Young Cultural Creators: a unique and innovative cultural literacy project that provides opportunities for children and young people to explore creative writing and illustration through visits to museums, libraries, archives and galleries.

Below are some photographs of a display made by the pupils – just one of the outcomes of the pupils’ sessions with renowned poet Polarbear. A CD of their recordings is also available to loan from Northampton Central Library. The sessions took place at Northampton Central Museum and Northampton Museum and Gallery where the pupils took their inspiration from the collections.

The Museums Libraries and Archives Council kindly funding the scheme as part of Setting the Pace, their programme for The London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games. The scheme has been awarded the Inspired by 2012 mark.
